An 82-year-old Hays, Kansas man died January 4 after being struck by a northbound vehicle while crossing Hall Street in a marked crosswalk near 15th Street. He was treated at HaysMed and airlifted to a Wichita trauma center, where he died during transport. The driver, who remained at the scene and cooperated with police, is under investigation. Authorities are seeking witnesses. In Wichita, a woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after being hit by a car on Hillside Avenue near Oakland Street on Sunday, but is expected to recover. Another pedestrian, a man in his 50s or 60s, died January 5 near 21st Street and Woodlawn, not in a crosswalk, with no signs of driver impairment. Police are reviewing surveillance and seeking witnesses. A separate incident in east Wichita left a pedestrian in critical condition after a collision at Douglas and Hillside.
