flag USDA recalls 2,855 lbs of grass-fed ground beef over E. coli risk; no illnesses reported.

The USDA's FSIS has recalled 2,855 pounds of Forward Farms grass-fed ground beef due to possible E. coli O26 contamination. Produced on December 16, 2025, by Mountain West Food Group in Idaho, the 16-ounce vacuum-sealed packages bear a "USE BY FREEZE BY 01/13/26 EST 2083" date and were distributed to Montana, Idaho, Washington, California, Colorado, and Pennsylvania. No illnesses have been reported, but consumers are advised not to eat the product and to discard or return it. Symptoms of E. coli infection include diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, and vomiting, with onset up to 34 days after exposure. Severe cases may lead to hemolytic uremic syndrome.
