Three California residents pleaded not guilty to terrorism charges in a failed New Year’s Eve bombing plot.
Three Southern California residents—Audrey Illeene Carroll, Zachary Aaron Page, and Tina Lai—have pleaded not guilty to terrorism charges linked to a foiled New Year’s Eve bombing plot, with a fourth suspect, Dante James Anthony-Gaffield, set for arraignment on January 20.
Federal prosecutors allege they were part of the anti-capitalist, anti-government group the Turtle Island Liberation Front, planning coordinated attacks using pipe bombs and firearms against businesses, including logistics facilities, with explosives allegedly tested in the Mojave Desert.
The suspects, arrested December 12, face charges including conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction and providing material support to terrorists; if convicted, Carroll and Page could receive life sentences, while Gaffield and Lai could face up to 25 years.
The plot was uncovered after a handwritten document outlining the scheme was found in November.
