McDonald's is accused of deceiving consumers by marketing the McRib sandwich as having pork rib meat when it actually uses inferior cuts like shoulder, heart, and scorched stomach, according to a class action lawsuit filed in December 2025. The lawsuit, which was filed in the Northern District of Illinois, alleges that the sandwich's name and appearance are misleading and asks for damages and class certification for customers who purchased it within the previous four years. McDonald's claims the McRib is made with 100% real pork from U.S. suppliers and emphasizes transparency and quality while denying the use of hearts, tripe, or scalded stomach. The McRib is more expensive than many other menu items and is only available for a short period of time.
