Gujarat IAS officer Rajendrakumar Patel, former Surendranagar collector, was suspended on January 2, 2026, after being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case tied to bribes for expediting land use changes.

Digital records and WhatsApp messages reportedly link him to the scheme, and he was remanded into ED custody until January 7.
The suspension followed his detention beyond 48 hours, triggering automatic action under central rules.
Deputy mamlatdar Chandrasingh Mori was also arrested, with ₹67.5 lakh found in his home.
