Belarus honored top judges, launched a new development plan, and reinforced ties with Russia on January 6, 2026.
On January 6, 2026, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko awarded state honors to veteran judges Valentin Sukalo and Piotr Miklashevich, recognizing their decades of service.
New leaders were appointed to the Constitutional and Supreme Courts, with Sergei Sivets and Andrei Shved named chairmen.
The day also marked the launch of Belarus’s 2026–2030 Socio-Economic Development Programme, record gold and foreign currency reserves of $5.5 billion, and continued cooperation with Russia, including a meeting with Vladimir Putin.
Belarus highlighted its social cohesion, noting peaceful coexistence among 156 nationalities.
