A Bangladeshi Hindu widow was gang-raped and abused in December 2025 after a land dispute, sparking national outrage and international concern.

After a land dispute, two men, Shahin and Hasan, allegedly gang-raped a 40-year-old Hindu widow in Jhenaidah, Bangladesh, tied her to a tree, chopped off her hair, and filmed the attack. After she bought property from them in December 2025, she was harassed and made demands for money, which led to the attack. Her family members were beaten and ejected. Locals discovered her unconscious, took her to the hospital, and then filed a complaint. Police promised to take legal action after confirming the assault. India has expressed serious concern about growing hostility as a result of the case, which adds to growing worries about violence against Bangladesh's Hindu minority, including recent mob killings and attacks on religious minorities.
