Uttarakhand seeks central approval for key highway projects to improve pilgrimage access, trade, and disaster response.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami urged central approval for key highway projects during a New Delhi meeting chaired by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
He highlighted the 12.67 km Rishikesh Bypass, a four-lane road with elevated sections for wildlife and bridges over river and rail lines, costing ₹1,161.27 crore.
Other proposals included widening NH-309B and NH-109, and developing the Almora-Bageshwar-Kanda-Udiyari Bend road.
Dhami emphasized progress in the state’s 3,723 km national highway network, with over 336 km completed and nearly 193 km under construction.
Projects like the Delhi-Dehradun Corridor’s six-lane stretch, Dehradun and Haridwar bypasses, and the ₹12,769 crore Char Dham Mahamarg Project aim to boost pilgrimage access, trade, disaster response, and regional development.
