Two in Manipur injured in back-to-back blasts; five militants arrested, weapons seized, locals protest security failures.

Two people were injured in two explosions in Bishnupur district, Manipur, on January 5, 2026. The first blast, around 5:45 a.m., hit an abandoned house in Ngaukon village, and a second occurred about 200 meters away at 8:45 a.m. when locals gathered. Victims Sanatomba Singh and Indubala Devi sustained splinter wounds and were hospitalized but are out of danger. Police are investigating, and security forces have arrested five militants linked to outlawed groups, recovering weapons and explosives. The area remains tense since ethnic violence began in May 2023.
