Nine Nigerian soldiers died and several others were injured in an IED explosion near Gubio in Borno State on January 4, 2026, while en route from Maiduguri. The attack, attributed to Boko Haram, targeted troops from the 145 Damasak unit and caused severe injuries, with one additional death reported the next day.
