India warns citizens against non-essential travel to Iran amid deadly protests over economic crisis.

Due to widespread protests sparked by economic hardship, including a sharp decline in the rial and skyrocketing inflation, India has issued a travel advisory advising its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Iran. The Ministry of External Affairs advises people in Iran to register with the Indian Embassy in Tehran, stay informed through embassy updates, and stay away from protest areas. At least 15 to 20 people have died and hundreds have been arrested as a result of the unrest, which started in late December 2025 and has spread to several provinces.
