India and Bhutan launch judicial exchange, with Bhutanese clerks to work at India’s Supreme Court for three months.
On January 5, 2026, India’s Supreme Court signed a memorandum of understanding with Bhutan’s apex court to exchange law clerks, with two Bhutanese legal professionals set to work at the Indian Supreme Court for three months.
They will receive the same honorarium and travel expenses covered by the Indian court.
Chief Justice Surya Kant described the clerks as “young and bright” and said they will be assigned to various judicial units.
The initiative aims to strengthen judicial cooperation and build institutional ties between the two nations.
