David Hyland, 31, has retired from inter-county football after a 13-year career with Kildare, making 136 appearances and scoring 2-31.
He captained the team in 2020 and 2021, helped secure promotion to Division 2 in 2025, and contributed to a Tailteann Cup win.
A product of Kildare’s development system, he played for minor and under-21 teams, won a Leinster U21 title in 2013, and earned a Sigerson Cup with UCD in 2016.
He also led his club Athy to a senior championship title.
Kildare GAA honored his leadership and lasting impact, noting he is the last active player from his successful under-21 panel to retire.
