Ayham Abu-Shama, a 20-year-old Canadian permanent resident from Sudbury, pleaded guilty to threatening death and property damage in 2024 and 2025, actions linked to psychosis, substance use, and long-term mental health struggles including ADHD and addiction.
Ontario Court Justice Graham Jenner acknowledged these factors, granting a conditional discharge, one year of probation, a two-year weapons ban, a DNA order, and restrictions from three individuals.
The judge warned future serious offenses could lead to deportation due to his sealed youth record.
Four other charges were dropped as part of a plea deal.
Abu-Shama, now stabilized and under psychiatric care, will avoid an adult criminal record if he remains crime-free for 18 months.
