Thirty-one residents of Essex have been honored in the King’s 2026 New Year Honours for their contributions to science, charity, public service, healthcare, education, music, and community work.
Recipients include Dr John Martin Bagshaw for quantum science, Hilary May Evans-Newton for leading Alzheimer’s Research UK, and Richard Haworth Farnes for music.
Others recognized are Aileen Henderson for crafting ceremonial flags used in King Charles III’s coronation, Valerie Lolomari for supporting survivors of female genital mutilation, and Roger Charles Hirst for policing and community safety.
The honours also acknowledge work in cancer care, veterans’ welfare, education, and advocacy for those with rare diseases.
The list includes 1,157 recipients nationwide, recognizing diverse achievements across the UK.
