A teen died in a crash after fleeing a traffic stop on an unregistered minibike in Texas.
A teenager believed to be in their early teens died Saturday afternoon after fleeing a traffic stop on an unauthorized minibike in the Cloverleaf area of Harris County, Texas.
Officials say the teen, riding without a helmet and violating traffic laws, crashed into a Ford Expedition during a brief pursuit that lasted about two minutes.
The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Wallisville and Uvalde roads, where the teen ran a red light and drove on the wrong side of the road.
Emergency responders pronounced the teen dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the minibike was not registered or insured and urged families to educate children about the dangers of operating unlicensed vehicles on public roads.
The investigation is ongoing.
