A record-breaking gingerbread village was taken down at a Houston museum, with leftover pieces given to pigs.
A massive gingerbread village with 570 edible houses, created by artist Jon Lovitch and holding four Guinness World Records, was dismantled at Houston’s Museum of Fine Arts at Bayou Bend on January 4, 2026.
After the public took home free pieces, rescue pigs from the Houston Mini Pig Rescue and Farm Sanctuary consumed the leftovers.
Lovitch, who spends a year on the project, called the event a satisfying conclusion and began planning for next year’s display.
