Qatar to supply Egypt with up to 24 LNG cargoes for summer 2026, boosting energy security.
A memorandum of understanding has been signed by Egypt and Qatar to supply up to 24 cargoes of liquefied natural gas from Qatar to the ports of Ain Sokhna and Damietta in Egypt, mainly for the summer of 2026. Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, CEO of QatarEnergy, and Karim Badawi, Egypt's petroleum minister, signed the agreement in Doha with the intention of strengthening Egypt's energy security in the face of diminishing domestic gas production and growing demand. With the possibility of long-term LNG supply negotiations in the future, it strengthens regional energy cooperation and supports Egypt's objective of becoming oil and gas self-sufficient.
