Mali beat Tunisia 3-2 in penalties to reach AFCON 2025 quarter-finals, joining Senegal, who defeated Sudan 3-1.

Mali advanced to the AFCON 2025 quarter-finals by defeating Tunisia 3-2 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw following extra time, despite playing with 10 men after a red card in the 26th minute. Tunisia led in the 88th minute, but Mali equalized in stoppage time via a penalty after a handball. Mali’s goalkeeper saved two penalties, and El Bilal Toure scored the decisive kick. Senegal also reached the quarter-finals with a 3-1 win over Sudan, with Pape Gueye scoring twice and teenage debutant Ibrahim Mbaye adding a late goal. Mali will face Senegal on January 9 in Tangier.
