The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly's budget session will begin on February 2, 2026, nearly a month early to avoid overlapping with the holy month of Ramadan.
The session will be split into two parts: the budget will be presented and passed before Ramadan begins, with other legislative work resuming after Eid-ul-Fitr, expected around March 21.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will deliver his second budget for 2026-27.
MLAs must submit questions and private members’ bills by January 12 and 17, respectively.
The session calendar will be released by Speaker A R Rather.
The scheduling change follows concerns raised last year about holding sessions during Ramadan.
