The 96-year-old stepsister of Anne Frank and survivor of Auschwitz, Eva Schloss, passed away in London. She was born in Vienna in 1929, fled to Amsterdam with her family during the Nazi invasion, grew close to Anne Frank, and was sent to Auschwitz in 1944, where she and her mother survived while her father and brother died. She relocated to the UK after the war and wed Zvi Schloss, while her mother wed Otto Frank. She served as Honorary President of the Anne Frank Trust UK, which she co-founded in 1990. She devoted decades to Holocaust education and spoke out against prejudice throughout the world. She was honored for her bravery and legacy by King Charles III and Queen Camilla. In 2012, she received an MBE. In addition to planning a future memorial, her family asked for privacy. Thousands of young people are reached by her educational programs, which continue her work.
