Chen Shui-bian's political talk show was canceled hours before airing due to parole violations, despite prior approval.
A talk show hosted by former Taiwanese president Chen Shui-bian was canceled hours before its YouTube premiere on January 4, 2026, after the Agency of Corrections blocked it, citing violations of his medical parole conditions that prohibit political activities.
Chen, 75, serving part of a 20-year corruption sentence, said he was informed by phone and apologized on Facebook.
Though the National Communications Commission had approved the show, officials said the decision came from the Ministry of Justice, with no confirmation of Premier Cho Jung-tai’s involvement.
Meanwhile, China’s military exercises in the Taiwan Strait disrupted 941 flights and prompted Taiwan to accelerate production of new Tien Kung missile systems if its defense budget passes.
El programa de charlas políticas de Chen Shui-bian fue cancelado horas antes de su emisión debido a violaciones de la libertad condicional, a pesar de la aprobación previa.
