Chef Dara Klein has opened Tiella Trattoria and Bar in Bethnal Green, transforming a former pub on Columbia Road into a modern Italian restaurant. The space, previously home to several eateries, features restored original brick, tile, and wood elements, along with family mementos from Klein’s Italian roots. Drawing on her childhood in Emilia Romagna and New Zealand, and experience at Brawn, Trullo, and Sager & Wilde, Klein offers a rustic British-Italian menu including delica pumpkin with radicchio agrodolce, orecchiette with cime di rapa, chicken Milanese with green apple and fennel, and bay leaf panna cotta with blood orange. The open kitchen serves Italian wines, and the restaurant, which opened in mid-January 2026, marks Klein’s first permanent venture, developed with her childhood friend Ry Jessup as a labor of love.
