The Astalakshmi Carnival 2026 in New Delhi’s Chanakyapuri celebrated the culture, cuisine, music, and traditions of India’s Northeastern states with vibrant performances, a diverse food court, and interactive sessions.
Organized by Yugasutra, the two-day event aimed to strengthen ties between the Northeast and the national capital.
Former IAS officer M P Bezbaruah, chief guest and former head of a committee on Northeastern issues, called the event timely and meaningful, emphasizing unity in diversity.
Highlights included a Sattriya dance, folk fusion acts, a musical conversation with Assamese artist Joi Barua, Bihu Husori performances, and a contemporary folk band set by White Bridge.
The carnival featured live painting, an open stage, and regional dishes, drawing enthusiastic crowds and reflecting strong public interest in celebrating the region’s heritage.
