Two people were arrested in Northern Ireland over multiple shoplifting incidents involving stolen goods worth £4,500.
A 28-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were arrested in Lurgan, County Armagh, on January 2, 2026, over a series of shoplifting incidents across County Armagh and County Down since New Year’s Eve.
Police were alerted after security staff at a Millennium Way supermarket spotted the pair, who fled before being located on Hill Street.
Officers seized a bag with suspected stolen goods and the suspects’ vehicle.
Both were taken into custody on suspicion of going equipped for theft and three counts of theft, linked to items valued at around £4,500.
