Tripura is advancing power self-sufficiency by launching hydrokinetic projects on 10 rivers to generate 185 MW, with work starting next month, and expanding solar energy through rooftop installations on 2,000 government buildings (80 MW by 2027) and a national scheme targeting 500,000 households to produce 1,000 MW daily.
The state’s peak demand is projected to rise from 378 MW to 650 MW by 2031, while daily power supply averages 23 hours 54 minutes for 10.57 lakh consumers.
The initiatives, highlighted during a ceremony in Agartala, aim to reduce reliance on gas and promote sustainable growth.
