NIA now leads probe into Gujarat ricin terror plot, after arrests of three suspects linked to ISKP and ricin research.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation into an alleged ricin-based terror plot in Gujarat, following a transfer from the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS).
Three individuals—Dr.
Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed, Azad Suleman Sheikh, and Mohammad Suhail Mohammad Saleem—were arrested in November 2024 under the UAPA and other laws.
Saiyed, a doctor from Hyderabad with a medical degree from China, was found with firearms, ammunition, and four liters of castor oil, a ricin precursor.
The suspects allegedly planned a major terrorist attack, with Saiyed reportedly conducting ricin research and communicating with Abu Khadija, a foreign operative linked to ISKP in Afghanistan.
Sheikh and Saleem were arrested for supplying weapons.
The case, now under NIA jurisdiction, involves ongoing efforts to trace funding and foreign links.
