Emerging from worries about underrepresentation in the existing High-Powered Committee, the VBL focuses on land rights, environmental protection, cultural preservation, and demographic safeguards.
Led by convenor Skarma Namtak, elected unanimously, the group has met with the Lieutenant Governor and plans to engage with major local and central bodies.
Its formation marks a shift from a two-party dialogue to a more inclusive process, potentially influencing key policies on land, employment, and cultural identity in Ladakh.
