Justice A. Muhamed Mustaque appointed Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court, effective January 2026.
The Indian government has appointed Justice A. Muhamed Mustaque of the Kerala High Court as the new Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court, effective upon assuming office.
The appointment, cleared by the Centre and announced by Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, follows a Supreme Court Collegium recommendation led by Chief Justice Surya Kant.
Justice Mustaque, born in 1967, began practicing law in 1989 and was elevated to the Kerala High Court in 2014, serving as Acting Chief Justice.
His appointment coincides with the transfer of Soumen Sen from the Meghalaya High Court to lead the Kerala High Court, succeeding retiring Chief Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar, whose term ended January 9, 2026.
