He spent 27 years at RTÉ, producing influential programs like *Education Forum* and *The Open Mind*, and was celebrated for his memoir *Goodnight Ballivor, I’ll Sleep in Trim*.
A prolific writer, he authored children’s books, including the 1992 Bisto Award winner *The Summer of Lily and Esme*, and later works like *Homage* and *Gratias*.
Predeceased by his wife Olive, he is survived by three children, grandchildren, and extended family.
His funeral was held in Galway, with burial in Dublin.
