Hospital technical workers in Yakima have voted to strike over benefits and pay changes since MultiCare's 2023 takeover.
Technical workers at MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital have authorized a strike after nearly a year of contract negotiations, with union leaders citing benefit cuts and pay reductions since MultiCare's 2023 acquisition.
The vote, supported by about 169 employees in surgery, radiology, pharmacy, and lab services, reflects dissatisfaction over changes to health coverage, retirement benefits, and paid time off.
While MultiCare says it has been negotiating in good faith with a federal mediator and will maintain operations during a strike, the union warns of potential disruptions to critical patient care.
No strike date has been set.
