A former public green in Oxfordshire will become 265 military homes, reducing long commutes to RAF Brize Norton.
A green space in Carterton, Oxfordshire, closed to the public from January 5, 2026, is being redeveloped into 265 homes for military personnel.
The project, led by Taylor Wimpey and Galtec for the Ministry of Defence, includes homes of various sizes, parking, a signalised crossing, and a community green space.
It aims to reduce the number of service members living over 20 miles from RAF Brize Norton.
The plans are under review by West Oxfordshire District Council, with public comments accepted via planning portal reference 25/02878/FUL.
The development is funded through savings from the MoD’s repurchase of over 36,000 military homes.
