East Ridge narrows city manager search to Kevin Owens and Michael Powers, with a decision to be made Jan. 12.
East Ridge has narrowed its city manager search to two finalists, Kevin Owens and Michael Powers, after a process that began with 29 applicants. The position opens following the retirement of J. Scott Miller, who served since 2023 after a prior stint from 2016 to 2018. Owens, from Birmingham, Alabama, has over 25 years of municipal experience, including roles in Tennessee and Alabama. Powers, from Tulare, California, has led city and borough operations in California and Alaska, with expertise in finance and capital projects. Both will be interviewed in person at a public city council meeting on January 12 at 6 p.m. at East Ridge City Hall, where the final decision will be made.
