Canadian nurse Mike Villeneuve named Member of Order of Canada for his health-care leadership and equity work.
Mike Villeneuve, a Canadian nurse and health-care policy leader, has been named a Member of the Order of Canada in recognition of his decades-long career.
Appointed by Governor General Mary Simon on December 31, 2025, Villeneuve led the Canadian Nurses Association during the COVID-19 pandemic and contributed to national research on racism in nursing.
He began his career at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and served on the board of Winchester District Memorial Hospital.
The honor, which he described as emotional, acknowledges his impact on health-care policy and equity.
A formal investiture will be scheduled by the governor general’s office.
