Bitfarms sells its Paraguay Bitcoin mine to shift focus to AI, ending Latin American operations.
Bitfarms has completed its exit from Latin America by selling its 70-megawatt Bitcoin mining facility in Paraguay to Sympatheia Power Fund for up to $30 million, with $9 million in cash upfront and up to $21 million in milestone payments.
The deal marks the end of its operations in the region, shifting its entire energy focus to North America.
Proceeds will fund expansion of high-performance computing and AI infrastructure, including 430 MW under development in the U.S. and a 2.1-gigawatt pipeline.
The company plans to phase out Bitcoin mining by 2027, repurposing facilities for AI workloads.
CEO Ben Gagnon said the pivot accelerates free cash flow and positions Bitfarms for stronger returns in the growing AI infrastructure market.
