Texas is opening Palo Pinto Mountains State Park in 2026, offering a preview to visitors on New Year’s Day.
Located about 80 miles southwest of Fort Worth, the nearly 4,871-acre park features rugged terrain, hiking trails, and Tucker Lake, originally built in 1937 for water supply.
The park will support fishing, camping, and wildlife viewing, including endangered Golden-cheeked warblers.
Development began in 2010, with construction starting in 2021 and $12.5 million in state funding.
When complete, it will include about 60 campsites and become the first new Texas state park in North Texas in 25 years.
