Tanzania’s Revenue Authority collected 9.8 trillion shillings in the second quarter of 2025/26, exceeding its target by 1.45 percent and marking a record monthly collection of 4.13 trillion shillings in December—the highest ever in a single month.
The authority attributed the success to improved compliance, strong economic policies, and taxpayer cooperation, with the first half of the fiscal year seeing 18.77 trillion collected, 13.6 percent above the previous year.
A new digital system, IDRAS, is set to launch in early 2026 to streamline services and improve transparency.
