A six-year-old dog, Alvin, adopted in December 2025 after over two years in RSPCA care, finds a forever home.
Alvin, a six-year-old tan and white lurcher cross rescued in May 2022 from a West Midlands property with untreated hunting injuries, was adopted in December 2025 after spending over two years in RSPCA care.
Initially unable to be rehomed due to legal proceedings involving his former owner, who was disqualified from owning animals, Alvin was transferred to an RSPCA branch in Lancashire.
Despite being dubbed "Britain's loneliest dog" and featured in multiple appeals, he remained in kennels until Alan Eastham, a man from near Preston, adopted him after seeing him on the RSPCA’s website.
Alan described Alvin as a calm, affectionate dog who enjoys long naps and has made progress overcoming fears, particularly around other dogs.
The RSPCA celebrated his adoption as a significant milestone, marking the end of a nearly three-year journey in care.
