Shawn Loo charged in Singapore with drug use and organizing a gathering that led to lawyer M. Ravi's death on Dec. 24, 2025.

Shawn Loo Zhi Jian, 40, was charged on January 2, 2026, with methamphetamine consumption and arranging a drug gathering linked to the death of former Singaporean lawyer M. Ravi, 56, who died on December 24, 2025. Loo allegedly hosted a gathering at an Upper Boon Keng Road flat between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. where both men used drugs. Ravi became unresponsive, prompting Loo to perform CPR and call for help. Paramedics arrived at 5:40 a.m., but Ravi died. Loo’s urine tested positive for a controlled drug, and authorities found evidence suggesting he may have disposed of drugs. He faces up to 20 years in prison and 10 strokes of the cane for organizing the gathering, or up to 10 years in jail and a fine of up to $20,000 for drug use. His case is adjourned to January 28, 2026.
