BYD’s luxury Yangwang brand is coming to Australia with high-performance EVs, but no launch date has been set.
BYD’s luxury Yangwang brand is confirmed for Australia but lacks a set launch date, according to Liu Xueliange, GM of BYD Asia Pacific.
The brand, positioned above BYD and Denza like Porsche and Bentley in Volkswagen’s hierarchy, will bring up to nine models to Australia, including the U9 supercar—claimed to be the fastest on Earth at 496.22 km/h with a sub-2.4-second 0-100 km/h time—powered by four 555kW electric motors.
The U8 SUV combines four electric motors with a 2.0-liter range-extending engine for 880kW and a 3.6-second 0-100 km/h sprint, while the U7 sedan promises over 1,000 horsepower.
Prices are expected to significantly exceed BYD’s current lineup, with the U8 priced at around AU$235,000 in China.
Though the U8 and U9 have been spotted in Australia, and a UK launch is set for 2027, no firm timeline has been given for Australia, suggesting a likely delay of several years.
