The Asian Development Bank approved a ₹4,100 crore loan for Phase I of Telangana’s Musi River Rejuvenation Project.
The Asian Development Bank has given in-principle approval for a ₹4,100 crore loan to support Phase I of Telangana’s Musi River Rejuvenation Project, which aims to clean the river, improve water supply, and develop riverfront areas.
The state is also seeking ₹3,188 crore under the National River Conservation Plan.
A consortium including Singapore’s Meinhardt is preparing a detailed project report for the 21 km stretch in Zone I, managed by MRDCL.
The project includes developing Bapu Ghat, restoring a Shiva temple, and building places of worship to promote harmony.
Plans also involve diverting Godavari water to sustain the river and constructing a 55 km elevated corridor.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said project estimates will be finalized by March 31, followed by tenders.
The government aims to complete the DPR before Sankranti and has invited opposition MLAs to visit international riverfront projects.
