Loraine Priest, a senior infection prevention and control nurse from Cradley Heath, has retired after 52 years with the NHS, beginning as a nurse cadet at 16 in 1972.
She worked in Sandwell hospitals before dedicating the past 30 years to infection control at Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Reflecting on her career, she called it a continuous learning experience and praised teamwork and family support.
She celebrated her retirement alongside her 52nd wedding anniversary and was honored to attend the NHS’s 60th anniversary event in 2008.
Colleagues honored her with a retirement party, and she plans to stay active in her next chapter.
