Two Equatorial Guinea players, captain Carlos Akakpo and midfielder Josete Miranda, were suspended for four matches each after using offensive language toward a referee during a 1–0 loss to Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, ruling them out of the final group game against Algeria.
