Tarun Garg has become the first Indian national to lead Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), assuming the role of Managing Director and CEO effective January 1, 2026.
He succeeds Unsoo Kim, who returns to a strategic role in South Korea.
Garg, a veteran with over 30 years in the Indian auto sector, including leadership at Maruti Suzuki and HMIL’s COO, brings a track record of record sales, profitability, and India’s largest IPO in 2024.
His leadership will focus on advancing electric and hybrid vehicles, connected mobility, and the “Make in India, Made for the World” initiative, backed by a ₹45,000 crore investment by FY30.
He emphasizes sustainable growth, customer experience, and strengthening local manufacturing and exports.
