Punjab expanded Wagah Border arena to 25,000 capacity, adding a museum, flag, and memorial on Jan. 1, 2026.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated a major expansion of the Wagah Border arena on January 1, 2026, increasing its capacity to 25,000 spectators from 7,500.
The upgraded site features a new museum, theme park with partition-era displays, martyrs’ memorial, offices, Rangers barracks, food courts, and a 139-meter-tall national flag—the tallest in South Asia.
An Alamgiri-style gateway inspired by Lahore Fort architecture was also unveiled.
The event, attended by senior officials, marked the launch of 2026 as the “Year of Youth,” with plans for new health projects and continued development.
