A man in his 40s jumped from a jetty in Port Stephens, injuring his neck, and was airlifted to a hospital.
A man in his 40s suffered a possible neck injury Thursday afternoon, January 1, 2026, after jumping from the Shoal Bay jetty in Port Stephens, New South Wales.
Emergency services, including NSW Ambulance, police, paramedics, and the Westpac rescue helicopter, responded around 12:30 p.m., treating the man on the beach before airlifting him to Royal North Shore Hospital.
The jetty is a known spot for swimmers and divers but has previously seen serious injuries, including a 2019 incident involving a broken neck and spinal cord damage.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
