Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has returned to competitive wrestling after an 18-month retirement, following her disqualification at the 2024 Paris Olympics for exceeding the weight limit. The Wrestling Federation of India welcomed her comeback, contingent on adherence to federation rules. Phogat, a medalist at multiple World Championships, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games, aims to compete in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The WFI also projected India could win 30 to 32 wrestling medals at the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, building on its best-ever performance of 19 medals in 2010.
