India seized 3.05 kg of gold hidden in a water tumbler at Mumbai airport on Dec. 31, 2025.
On December 31, 2025, India’s Directorate of Revenue Intelligence intercepted a gold smuggling attempt at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, seizing 3.05 kg of 24-carat gold valued at ₹3.89 crore.
The gold, hidden in 12 capsules inside a water tumbler, was concealed in wax and carried by a passenger arriving from Bahrain.
The operation followed specific intelligence, and the seized gold was confiscated under the Customs Act, 1962.
An investigation is ongoing to identify any individuals involved in the smuggling network.
