A woman died in an Orangevale home during a gas leak that triggered evacuations and road closures.
A woman was found dead in an Orangevale home Tuesday afternoon after a gas leak prompted emergency evacuations and road closures on Mountain Avenue between Cherry and Golden Gate avenues.
Responders arrived around 2 p.m. following reports of a strong gas odor, leading to the closure of the road and temporary relocation of nearby residents.
Sacramento Metro Fire and PG&E worked to secure the leak, which was later contained.
The woman was discovered inside the residence where the leak originated, but authorities have not determined if her death was related to the gas or if it was suspicious.
