U.S. hackers Ryan Goldberg and Kevin Martin plead guilty to aiding Blackcat ransomware attacks on American firms.
Two U.S. cybersecurity professionals, Ryan Goldberg and Kevin Martin, have pleaded guilty to conspiring with the ALPHV Blackcat ransomware group to extort American companies, using their expertise to encrypt corporate networks and demand cryptocurrency payments.
The Justice Department said they targeted multiple businesses, including a medical device company and pharmaceutical firm, with the attacks linked to a ransomware-as-a-service model.
Both face up to 20 years in prison when sentenced in March 2026.
The third co-conspirator remains unidentified.
